Mother’s Day can bring a wide range of emotions. For some, Mother’s Day is accompanied by grief from loss, while for others, it’s a day to celebrate a growing family. Regardless of where you are today, I hope these Bible verses for moms are an encouragement to you.

As a mom to three heavenly babies, it can sometimes be difficult to face Mother’s Day as my husband and I wait patiently for the Lord’s perfect timing. Our joy comes from the Lord. For whatever reason, those of us who have been pained with pregnancy loss were actually chosen by God to be a vessel for bringing a child He created into His Kingdom. Therefore, instead of asking, “Why?” let’s choose to focus our thoughts on the beauty of our Heavenly babies laughing and playing in the presence of the Lord. Because for reasons we may never understand during our earthly lifetime, God entrusted us to endure this pain. He decided that we were capable of facing this loss.

Before we get started, I’d just like to share some bonus scriptures specifically for grieving mothers.

Bible Verses for Grieving Mothers

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

    the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—

indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.
